I’m beyond excited to share with you my planty outdoor patio space. Over the pandemic I quickly realized that this introvert is going to need a space of her own. There’s only so much interaction I can take before I need to recharge and be left alone in peace. Can you relate? Now that the temps are warming up again, I had to get my planty corner in order with some of these outdoor patio style essentials. So let’s get into it!
5 Outdoor Patio Style Essentials
Chic & Comfy Outdoor Furniture
The most important part of any outdoor patio space is the furniture. If you’re going to be spending the majority of your time lounging and unintentionally napping (that’s me) you need comfortable outdoor furniture. When I saw this Opalhouse Egg Chair I knew I had to get one for the screened-in patio in the backyard. Natural wicker furniture is my favorite because it gives me island vibes and reminds me of my home island. I’ve had this chair for almost a year so if you’d like my honest review you can see that here (coming up).

Outdoor Area Rug
The screened-in porch is quite large, so I wanted to designate this space specifically for my planty corner. The best way to designate any particular area as a specific space is with an area rug. I purchased this woven natural rug from Rugsusa.com and I absolutely love it. I was super surprised to find a rug of this quality and size at this price point. It’s important that you get a rug that’s actually meant for outdoors because outdoor rugs aren’t made to withstand elements like sun or rain. You’re likely to get water and/or mildew stains and a disintegrating mess in not time because the fibers just aren’t built for that kind of exposure.

Side Tables
Side tables are essential to styling any patio space especially if you’re going to be entertaining guests or you just want to have some place to put your drinks, books, or maybe your laptop if you like to work outdoors. I also wanted something that gelled well with the aesthetic my egg chair was serving and I found that in this table. Here are more affordable side tables that are perfect for your neutral and colorful outdoor patio space.

Bring On the Plants!
Now let’s get into what has to be my favorite out of all the outdoor patio style essentials. I do believe this is the first time I’m proclaiming loudly on the blog that I’ve become a crazy plant lady. Over the past year I’ve collected quite a few plants (and counting)! Obsessed? Maybe a little. Incorporating a couple or 30 plants is a great way to liven up any outdoor space. It definitely breathes some warmth into an otherwise clinical space that lacks plant life. Shop for common plants at affordable prices at big box stores and your local plant nurseries. If you’re looking for unique plants, shopping on sites like Etsy and other online small businesses would be your best bet.
Affordable Shelving
My planty corner is exposed to the elements even when screened in. I wanted shelving that would be durable, waterproof, and most importantly affordable. I got these plastic shelves from Lowe’s. They’re super easy to clean and they’re very stable for all of the plants. You can split them into multiple, two-level shelves as well.
Getting my little planty corner together definitely has me ready for spring! Share this post or pin on Pinterest if you’ve these outdoor patio style essentials helpful.
