It’s not often that I hop on board trends but this safari trend is something we can easily have some fun with. I haven’t seen much In addition to highlighting my favorite plus size safari pieces to recreate your own looks, I wanted to encourage you to venture into your own closets as well. Never go broke for a trend that may be fleeting I say.
The Safari Color Scheme
When it comes to the safari trend the color scheme traditionally includes all shades of brown, beige, and olive. All animal prints are fair game too! See what I did there? However, you can easily include complimentary colors like oranges, blush pinks, and even Beyonce lemonade yellow (that’s an official color on this blog) to spice things up.
All In the Details
Rustic metals, and organic details like wooden buttons are also a nice nod to authentic safari style.
Dressed to Kill (The Look Not Animals)
I thrifted this maxi skirt that has literally every animal print that’s trending right now in one. The perk of being petite is that maxi skirts can double as midi-dresses. I pulled the skirt up to under my arms and paired it with the olive green blazer again. Then I defined my waist with this brown woven leather belt.
Safari Boss
You can also take your style to the office as well. Linen blend button ups with any “safari-colored” bottoms is an easy way to get in on the trend. You can also switch out solid colored bottoms for something with animal print. I lucked out when I found this tiger print pencil skirt in the thrift store. I could have easily dressed it up with some heels, but kept it cool with my Adidas.
Casual Plus Size Safari Style
For a casual look, you can wear some jeans, an animal print top, and an blazer in a safari-esque color. Tie in the bottom half of your look with the top by wearing some animal print heels. I’m definitely going to rock this myself on a casual denim Friday at work.
Practically everything in both looks was thrifted, but if they weren’t I would definitely shop some of these pieces. What’s great about these pieces is they’re classic staples that can work for so many different looks. Linen dresses and shirts are perfect for the spring and summer months. Animal prints are typcially a fall trend, but in 2019 we’re breaking all the rules.
