Before I spill the beans on how I did this DIY Oversized Mirror Frame, here’s a bit of the backstory. The thrifting Gods called to me first thing on a Saturday morning. Before I had my 1st cup of coffee, I felt compelled to hop onto Craigslist and browse the furniture section. The fact that I spent the entire night before watching renovation videos on YouTube probably had something to do with it, but I digress. The very first listing turned out to be something I’ve been wanting for forever and that’s a big, oversized mirror. It was originally $40, but when I picked it up the owner knocked off $20 because she couldn’t fit it in her car to bring it to the meet up spot.
In a nutshell, I wanted a mirror so big that I could take mirror selfies and NOT see the frame in the photos. Vain? Yes. Does it change the fact that I still wanted it? Not in the slightest. Oversized mirrors are pretty pricey.
Here’s a look at some of the prices of comparable oversized mirrors.
This mirror isn’t perfect. It came with two minor cracks in the corners, and it didn’t come in a frame. Without the cracks, I may have just added some washi tape or something to the edges and call it a frameless mirror. However, it needed a frame to hide the cracks and prevent them from getting any worse.

I watched quite a few DIY mirror frame ideas on YouTube, but quickly realized mine was significantly larger. It’s also heavier so I don’t think glue and staples would be good enough to keep everything together. I still ended up having had to make my own plans for this project and made tweaks along the way.
Y’all I’m in love with how it turned out! This was definitely not a weekend project like the fireplace makeover, but it forced me to take my time. It was also nice to have something to do at home that would keep me busy and help pass the time.
Here’s how I transformed this $20 mirror in this DIY Oversized Mirror Frame YouTube video below:
